Background:

JOAN cooperates with this company (factory) to help them managing inventory and assets tracking. Recently, their requirment is a barcode base solution for inventory management and assets tracking.
 
Challenges:

It was imperative to find a solution to meet all the requirements for warehouse solution and at the same time provide assets tracking solution as well.

It was difficult to bring all these components like inventory and company assets together into one user friendly system. Manual system was complex enough to deal with the levels of problems in inventory management, warehouse distribution and warehouse assets tracking.

Cost-effective solution was needed to fulfil warehouse management and assets tracking solution.

The traditional manual method of inventory management and assets tracking was laborious, inefficient, and inconvenient.

 
Solution:
JOAN suggested a barcode assets tracking plus warehouse solution which required a software and handheld reader. JOAN C50 mobile computer with barcode scanner was deployed. Each goods and assets in warehouse were enrolled with a unique ID barcode label which can distinguish it from other goods. This barcode label contains the information: product name, category, production date, permanent assets such as machinery, computers, production equipment, tools etc. The solution confirms the entry of goods in warehouse after scanning the barcode label with C50 handheld scanner and record automatically updates in central database of warehouse. At this step stock keeper can store the goods quickly at the right place. With the handheld device, a custodian can maintain the record of assets and share the data with central database. The main concern was to have accurate information on each specific item like location, condition, purchase date, value, custodian, and last maintenance etc..

Effects:

Such solution changed the traditional manual process of inventory management and assets tracking.

Administrators can check timely information like automatically generated statements and tracking records of inventory, goods needed to be dispatch, maintenance record of assets, inbound and out bound movement of goods.

Assets tracking solution makes the inspection work more convenient and less time taking.

It ensures the assets safety and realized dynamic monitoring of assets.

The client is able to fully utilize its assets and improved ROI on assets.
